Frequently Asked Questions
What levels of care are available?
We provide independent living, assisted living, and memory care. Our independent living is a step up from independent living offered elsewhere. Residents have the benefits of staff-led activities, three meals a day offered, and a pendant to call staff in case of an emergency. Residents can move into independent living, and if their needs change, they can stay in the same apartment. We will bring assisted living service to them so that they don’t need to move.
Are pets allowed, and if yes, what are the pet-related policies?
Yes, 1 cat or dog under 30 lbs. is allowed. We have a pet fee, and the resident is responsible for the care of the pet.
Does the community offer end-of-life or hospice care?
Yes, our goal is to provide care through end of life.
Is there an upfront entrance fee or deposit? If so, is it refundable?
There is a one-time, non-refundable community fee due upon reservation.
Are there any financial aid options, such as veterans’ benefits or Medicaid, that can help cover costs?
Long-term care and veterans benefits can help offset the cost of senior housing.
Are utilities, cable, and Wi-Fi included in the cost?
Yes, DIRECTV and complimentary Wi-Fi are included in rent.
What are the qualifications and certifications of the caregivers and medical staff?
Guardian Angels has a high standard for caregivers. We use CNAs (certified nursing assistants), LPNs (licensed practical nurses), and RNs (registered nurses).
Is there an on-call nurse or doctor available 24/7?
Yes, there is always a nurse or doctor available in our communities.
Are background checks conducted on staff?
Yes, we conduct background checks on all staff members.
What security measures are in place to ensure the safety of the residents (e.g., cameras, secured entrances, visitor protocols)?
Engel Haus has a secured entrance. All visitors need to be let in by staff, by a resident, or by using an issued fob.
Are there safety features within apartments or rooms, such as grab bars and emergency call buttons?
Bathrooms feature walk-in/roll-in showers as well as grab bars next to the toilet and in the shower. There is also a pull cord in the bathroom, and we ask residents to wear their emergency pendant so that they can call staff at all times.
Is the facility wheelchair-accessible and designed for mobility-impaired residents?
Yes, our communities are designed with accessibility in mind. All of our showers are walk-in/roll-in.
Are there group outings, and how often are they scheduled?
Yes! We typically have at least one outing per week to visit a restaurant, go shopping, or enjoy entertainment. Residents lead where they would like to go.
Does the community have fitness or wellness programs tailored for seniors?
Engel Haus has a fitness room with senior-friendly equipment if seniors would like to work out independently. It also offers a weekly group fitness class called WOW Fitness.
Are families encouraged to participate in events or activities?
Absolutely!
What are the visiting hours? Are there restrictions for family or friends to visit?
Engel Haus doesn’t have any specific visiting hours. Family and friends are always welcome!
Are there spaces for private gatherings, such as family celebrations, within the facility?
Yes, we have several areas residents and families may reserve for larger gatherings at no cost.
Can families visit during meals and join residents for lunch or dinner?
Yes, families are welcome to dine with their loved one.
Does the facility provide orientation for new residents?
Yes! Engel Haus has a welcome committee that will greet new residents, sit with them at lunch, invite them to activities, and help orientate them to the building.
