Caring Hearts and Caring Hands
“You matter until the last moment of your life…and we will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully, but live until you die." - Dame Cicely Saunders, founder of Hospice
Hospice is a special way of caring for people who are in the final stages of life.
The goal of hospice is to provide emotional, physical, and spiritual support to the individual and their family.
Hospice care can be provided in a person’s apartment, home, or at a care center.
Hospice provides the support, education, and expertise to help family and friends care for the patient. We strive to improve the individual’s quality of life by managing pain and other symptoms and providing services to support your needs.
Common questions about hospice:
- When is the right time to consider hospice care? Physicians generally recommend hospice care when there is a life - limiting illness and cure is not possible and/or when the focus is on comfort instead of cure.
- Is hospice limited to only people with cancer? No. Hospice care is for anyone with a life-limiting illness such as advanced heart disease, lung disease, end-stage dementia and other chronic diseases.
- Who pays for hospice? Hospice services are paid for by Medicare, Medical Assistance, and most private insurances.
